The Wrangler NFR is the premiere of all rodeo shows in the world, and with that statement, what can you expect for the room rates?
The rates will skyrocket between 3rd to 12th December, and therefore, you need to plan and budget, so that you don’t find yourself stranded while in Las Vegas for the rodeo.
What could be causing the high room rates?
It’s a clear fact that NFR attracts a lot of visitors to Las Vegas, therefore increasing the demand of the hotels while the supply remains constant. That’s a mathematical aspect, but when it comes to reality, there will be more than 100,000 people expected to attend the show at the Thomas & Mack Center during the first week of December.
Don’t be surprised to find a hotel charging three times to ten times its usual rates. It’s just a business strategy like any other.
You can choose to stay at certain hotels at a lower fee, but you’ll need to walk or request an uber to go to the rodeo shows.
Also, not all hotels have any rodeo events happenings, and these are quite cheap. However, if you want to book a hotel that’s near the Arena and have a lot of events during NFR, then you might need to dig deep into your pockets.
Do you want to be close to the rodeo shows entertainment? Then, book early the hotels that are near the Arena, and you won’t miss out on anything at the NFR.
You can even visit the official Wrangler NFR website or use the mobile app to see the recommended hotels to stay in during the rodeo events.
Hotel Packages for the 2020 NFR
Hotel room rates that are both on and off the Las Vegas Strip have already started to experience surge pricing, and there is nothing you do about it.
Let’s look at some hotel prices as well as testimonials.
A report from hotels.com shows that the hotel properties will be charging more for a room on 7th December as compared to two weeks after the NFR on 21st December. For example, a property near the Las Vegas Strip is charging $135 for a room as compared to its usual rate of $29 a night.
- Las Vegas OYO hotel & Casino general manager, Tim Kuykendall, had his say that,
“Las Vegas is such a dynamic market that continues to grow.” He went on to add, “When we have major events in the city, the demand for rooms creates compression and drives room rates throughout the city.”
There are 657 rooms in the OYO hotel, and Tim Kuykendall expects all the rooms to be sold out during the NFR.
- MGM Grand Hotel
A stay at this hotel would need you to pay about $288 on 7th December, which is an excess of $221 if you were to stay in the hotel on 21st December.
- Harrah’s Hotel
Harrah’s is charging $155 for a room during the event compared to its regular rate of $39.
- The South Point Hotel Casino & Spa
The South Point is already fully booked, and it might because it’s one of the rodeo’s sponsors hotels and hosts some of the NFR events. The hotel sold out the rooms for $100/night midweek and $159 during weekends.
Are you going to be in Las Vegas between 3rd – 12th December 2020 for the Wrangler NFR? Do you want to have epic holiday moments? Then, book early a hotel near the Arena since you don’t miss out on anything.
As far as we know, the NFR has been around since 1985 when it chose Las Vegas as its permanent home, and we bet it will remain in the city until 2024.
Come all, and let’s enjoy the season-ending NFR championships. If you can’t make it to the city, then you can still watch the airing on CBS Sports Network or live stream on ProRodeoTV.com.
